Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome! If your child shared this link with you allow me to introduce myself. My name is Ms. Ilona Lieberman and I am your child’s photography teacher. I look forward to bringing excitement for this very democratic art form into the lives of your children.

I am a published editorial photographer. My educational experience includes a Bachelor of Art in Film Production from Brooklyn College, a Master of Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design, and an Advanced Diploma in School Leadership & Technology from the New York Institute of Technology.

The focus of my class is digital storytelling, learning the craft of combining images with text to tell a complete and interesting story. Students are encouraged to explore and experiment with cultural, social and artistic concepts. In our present world of media saturation, we need to develop skills to manage and understand the impact these visual productions have on us.

It is my belief that all children are unique creative beings with unlimited potential and possibilities for growth and maturity. Public school students have a right to a free education that takes into account the whole individual, mind and body.

Students start by learning the language of visual arts then move into producing their own artistic stories. These exercises promote communication, collaboration and artistic freedom by integrating social, writing, photography and technology skills. Class rules and regulations, expectations, rubrics, and related information can be viewed within this site. I highly encourage parents and students alike to take full advantage of the information and to please communicate with me your ideas and concerns. Assignments and grades can be viewed on Pupil Path at any time.
